Complex Orthopaedic Trauma Surgery
Orthopaedic trauma falls into 2 broad categories of low and high energy trauma. Generally low energy trauma is secondary to a fall from standing height, or fragility fractures (for example wrist, ankle and neck of femur fractures).
High energy trauma results from motor vehicle accidents and falls from a height. Such mechanisms can cause severe fractures involving the upper and lower limb which often involve soft tissue injuries as well.
Complex Orthopaedic Trauma
Depending on the type of injury, treatment may require conservative management such as a cast or splint with a period of immobilisation, or require surgical intervention.
Treatment options will be discussed at your appointment with Dr Kovac.
